Employee Spotlight: John Andrade Jr.

Employee Spotlight: John Andrade Jr.

General Manager of Permian Projects

Journeyman Electrician John Andrade Jr. has been with Danos for nearly three years, and he has proven to be an ambassador of safety. He started in the field on oil and gas projects supervising crews with onsite electrical installations. He has been a huge asset with the safety team on XTO projects, bringing his experience in Danos procedures and living our values every day.

John has been particularly helpful over the last year as Danos has made a strong push into the renewables market. With this new business line comes new safety hazards. Workers in the solar energy industry are potentially exposed to a variety of serious hazards such as arc flashes (which include arc flash burn and blast hazards), electric shock and thermal burn hazards that can cause injury and death.

Danos' renewables strategy involves staffing local temporary labor. Research shows that new hires are five times as likely to be injured on the job as experienced workers. New hires are the most at-risk for injury because they are new, usually unfamiliar with tasks, unfamiliar with location or working at night around high voltage and wildlife.

As the onsite Danos representative on all renewable projects, John has mentored and trained all employees that have been hired under the temporary staff format, approximately 40 employees. Danos is still developing safety procedures for our renewables work, and John has been instrumental in helping our renewables team work safely.
