Fab Shop Solves Big Challenges

Danos’ fabrication shop solved a big challenge for the Shell Auger team by turning around a firewater pipe spool in less than 16.5 hours. The fab request was made at 2:20 p.m. on January 17, and the spool was delivered by 6:49 a.m. the next morning. The expedited turnaround required a lot of coordination since the spool was copper-nickel piping. Team members across departments had to work together to deliver, including purchasing, shipping and receivables, fabrication, crating, inspection and project management.
Special thanks goes out to:
- Santiago (Paco) Deleon, fabrication project coordinator, received the request from Shell late in the afternoon. He had to do a material take out and order material; process the drawings, and coordinate with the field and Shell personnel managers.
- Superintendent Jerry Hendricks Jr. and Shop Foreman Roger Moore had to rally the troops, including shipping/receiving, welders, fitters and quality control, then coordinate with each to ensure the project would be complete in time.
- Fabrication Material Coordinator Chad Rhodes came in to receive material. He had to ensure proper size, quantity and MTR match, and he lined up trucking for the completed project.
- Pipe Welders Shawn Cook and Steven Ledet and Pipe Fitter Trace Dufrene demonstrated excellent craftsmanship and work.
- Quality Leaderman Brandon Brunet performed quality control.
The quick delivery by our team prevented Auger from being shut in due to lack of fire fitting equipment. Great job by all involved! Way to solve big challenges for our customers.
