Paul Pellegrin and David Dupre Live the Value of Safety

At Danos, Safety is a core value—and two team members recently showed exactly what that looks like in action.

A customer shared outstanding recognition for Senior Project Manager Paul Pellegrin and I&E Superintendent David Dupre, who both used Stop Work Authority (SWA) to prevent a potential hazard during a hydro-excavation task.

While the original work was planned as a shallow excavation, on-site conditions changed, creating a risk of an unstable earthen wall. Before any workers were exposed, David and the work group called for a Stop Work and brought Paul in to help assess the situation.

What happened next truly exemplifies the Danos way. Rather than pushing forward and risking safety, the team immediately aligned on halting the work and engaged in a collaborative, solution-focused discussion—described by the customer as “next to perfect.”

Together, they used what the customer called “The Process”: recognizing the hazard, openly discussing safe alternatives, and agreeing on a new plan to eliminate the risk without creating new ones. Ultimately, the team decided to reroute the cable tray, removing the hazard altogether.

Their proactive mindset, commitment to safe operations and refusal to cut corners earned high praise:

*“Gentlemen, thank you for your commitment to safety and never compromising your values in keeping folks safe at your site. As Yoda would say… ‘The process is strong with these men.’”

Thank you, Paul and David, for leading with Safety—and showing that at Danos, it always comes first.
