Why You Should Use LifeMatters

In support of Danos’ Vision to show care for our people, employees, their dependents and any member of their household can access our free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) called LifeMatters.
Everyone deals with hard things in life, and it’s nice when you can find the help and assistance you need – especially when you don’t know where or how to start.
Here are 10 examples on when you should use LifeMatters:
- Legal consultation. Your neighbor tripped over a crack in your sidewalk and is now suing you. LifeMatters can connect you with an attorney for a free 30-minute consultation.
- Debt management. Your credit cards are maxed out (maybe from all that holiday shopping) and you don’t know how you are going to pay your next electric bill. LifeMatters can connect you with a financial advisor.
- Elder care resources. You and your spouse are unable to provide your elderly parent with the assistance they need. LifeMatters can help you find resources.
- Tobacco cessation assistance. You’ve been a smoker for as long as you can remember and have tried to quit more times than you care to count. LifeMatters provides a tobacco cessation program that includes telephonic counseling to help you succeed where other methods have failed.
- Facing your fears. You are terrified of flying and need to go on a business trip. You don’t want your boss to know, but the idea of stepping on a plane makes you panic. LifeMatters can give you the tools you need to help you face your fears.
- Information on colleges and universities. Your child is beginning their search for their dream school but is overwhelmed by all the options. LifeMatters offers services that can help you find the school that best meets their needs.
- Credit report review. You and your spouse want to buy a house, but you aren’t sure whether your credit is good enough to secure a loan. LifeMatters can help you review your credit report and discuss options.
- Stress management techniques. You are feeling overwhelmed and having difficulty sleeping. You feel like there is no one you can count on and no one who will listen to you. LifeMatters offers support and encouragement 24/7/365. Someone is ALWAYS available.
- Information and self-assessments. You want to learn more about drug and alcohol abuse and whether or not you have a problem, but you aren’t ready to talk to someone about it yet. The LifeMatters website provides educational articles, as well as self-assessments to help you determine if you should help.
- Parenting tips. You have a teenager who stays out all night, doesn’t do their homework, and becomes confrontational when you attempt to discipline. LifeMatters can help by listening to your concerns and provide assistance with establishing appropriate boundaries.
