Powering Shell VITO Supply Chain Readiness Through Material Management
Congratulations to the Danos team members Field Project Manager Damien Gardner and Project Reconciler Julien Constantin who recently received recognition for their outstanding work by being nominated for a Contracting and Procurement (CP) Operations Vice President Award. This award is for individuals and teams who deliver excellence in the end-to-end operational CP and significantly contribute to the delivery of the CP operations business plan. Read about the team's efforts below.
Materials Management encompasses end-to-end material flow from requisition to procurement, master data, delivery, storage and disposal. Our goal is to make sure suitable materials arrive at the right time, at the right place, and at the right price.
We faced several unforeseen challenges while ensuring managed equipment care and supply chain readiness. These challenges included a global pandemic, international supply chain interruption, historic low oil prices and the second-most intense hurricane in Louisiana history. Any of these circumstances could have slowed down start-up, delayed maintenance and prevented critical spares from being available in the warehouse.
Multiple stakeholders such as discipline engineers, material management leads, supply chain CP leads, EPC, suppliers and CP data projects formed a strong partnership and collaboration to manage these challenges and reach a successful outcome. By working together, we could search for the simplest, most efficient and most effective solutions to create the best results.
As a result, we can report 98% of 30,221 operational stock items received before the first oil, 100% capital spare and special tool accountability in system application and products in data processing (SAP), and 93% of warehouse material stocked with identified storage locations. With the aid of CP data, projects reached bill of material (BOM) coverage for safety critical equipment (SCE) at 85% and 80% for production critical equipment (PCE). That means that bill of material coverage for safety critical equipment and production critical equipment doubled the results of Appomattox, which was considered to have the highest bill of material coverage of Greenfield Gulf of Mexico projects.
